Whitehill Welfare 1 Edinburgh University 2

Whitehill's quest for a second trophy of the season is over after Edinburgh University inflicted a fourth consecutive defeat. The students went ahead after 6 minutes when a cross from Jamie Redman caused problems for the Whitehill defence. Goalkeeper Swain attempted to punch the ball clear under pressure but it spun up into the path of Maxwell, who bravely dived to head the ball low into the net.

Pryde had a 25-yard shot superbly saved by Bennett in the Uni goal but Whitehill then equalised in the 30th minute. A Walker cross from the left was powerfully headed into the net by Doig from ten yards. A 70th minute cross from Maxwell into the penalty area hit off the unfortunate Pryde and the ball fell perfectly for Hazeldine, who turned and sent an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net from eight yards.

Andy Howat almost added a third for the University but Shaun Woodburn made a superb tackle on the goal line to deny him.

With five minutes remaining Whitehill seemed certain to equalise when a Walker shot rebounded off the post to Doig. The Whitehill midfield player had time to staedy himself but from 10 yards he lifted his shot high and the ball rebounded from the underside of the crossbar and another Walker attempt was well held by Bennett.
