King Cup 2nd Round, Saturday 10th March 2007
Coldstream 1
Whitehill Welfare 2
AFTER
soaking up the Whitehill attack for long spells,
Coldstream were grateful to the woodwork after 35 minutes
when a McIntosh shot came back off the bar and was
scrambled away by a relieved defence. As the wind got
stronger dealing with high balls became a lottery for both
defences but it was poor marking that allowed Whitehill to
take the lead when McIntosh made the most of a free header
from a corner. In the second half the home side's hard
work was rewarded when the ever dangerous Gillon was
brought down in the box and the referee pointed to the
spot. Up stepped captain David Brown to send Swain the
wrong way and take the tie into extra time. Fourteen
minutes in, the tie was sealed for the visitors as
McIntosh latched on to a high bouncing ball for a
well-struck shot that gave Lumsden no chance.
