East of Scotland Premier League, Saturday 24th February 2007
Whitehill Welfare 7 Civil Service
Strollers 1
Welafre
went ahead in the 15th minute when Andy Doig
bulleted home a header from a Pryde Corner.
On 27
minutes Devlin equalised for Strollers from the penalty
spot. Darren Pryde was influential in midfield for Welfare
and just after the half hour mark he sent in a free kick
to Lee who smashed the ball into the net from close
range.
In the
second half the Strollers began brightly in search of the
equaliser but two goals in two minutes from Nicky
Walker saw Welfare surge into a 4-1 lead. The
Strollers lost Devlin who was taken to hospital with a
broken leg and matters worsened when Hogarth was sent off.
After
70 minutes Walker completed his hat trick when he
ran onto a through pass, and curled a deft chip shot
over the keeper.
Whitehill increased their lead to 6-1 in the 80th minute
when a long ball from Johnston found Walker and he centred
for Doig who stroked the ball home with ease. Brian
McEwan completed the scoring with a well placed low
drive in the last minute.
