PremierLeague, Saturday
30th September 2006
Lothian Thistle 2
Whitehill Welfare 1
Welfare turned in a below par performance against the
basement boys of the division and paid for it with a nil
points return. Early exchanges were even until the half
hour mark when Lothian took the lead. A speculative route
one lob found Gormley who almost lost control with his
first touch but recovered to volley the ball into the net
from 20 yards. Lothian went further ahead in the 65th
minute when O'Neill drove the ball hard and low into the
bottom corner. Welfare reduced the winning margin for
Lothian with a last minute goal from Wayne McIntosh.
